Gain More Local Business From Google
To Increase Footfall and Drive Up Customer Bookings
We wanted to share a quick explanation of something that’s super important for local SEO (Google results) for your campaigns.
In the world of search engine optimisation it is referred to as 3 Pack, Map Pack or Google pack and it’s where you want to be to on Google to make the most sales.
What Is the Google 3 Pack?
Way back in 2015, Google made some big changes to local search, and created this “map pack” you’ll see at the top of the page if you search for a local query. Just like the example shown in the image at the top of this article.
When it was first released there used to be 7 slots for local businesses to show up in Google Results, below the Advertisements and yet ABOVE all other Search Results (typically called Organic Search Results).
For example run a Google search like “plumbers near me,” and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
You’ll see a Google Map, with three companies listed below it. They each have a star rating, a website link, and in most cases, a link to get directions via Google Maps.
This is super convenient if you’re the one searching for a local business. But it introduced a brand new goal into local SEO: getting into the map pack.
How Does My Business Get Listed On Google In This Way?
One of the most important things for this is actually your Google+ My Business Page, believe it or not (as many people and businesses have decided that Google+ is not for them). You’ll need to get your business verified by Google and then start to optimised it accordingly.
So if you’ve ever wondered what the map results meant (or why your competitors are there when your business is not showing up), it’s basically a way for Google to make their search engine better for their users. Particularly effective for your business when people are searching on mobile phones or tablet devices.
